French River, ON Bass Action.

Posted on October 26th, 2021

After fishing in the West Arm of Lake Nipissing with our good friend Regan Thompson who operates Paradise Cove Resort there I know that the Bass fishing is excellent in the fall on Lake Nipissing and also in the French River, ON.

French River, ON
Fall Smallmouth Bass and Largemouth Bass feed heavily in the fall and it’s easy to find them in water as shallow as 1′.

Our good friend John Grdosic and his son just came back from a great trip fishing the river where they not only enjoyed catching both Large & Smallmouth Bass, but also saw some amazing colored leaves. Early Oct. in that part of Ontario has some of the most stunning shoreline scenery.

Good lures to fish in the fall are small 1/8 oz jigs/plastic paddle-tail grubs, Vibrax #3 & #4 spinners, twitch baits and shallow diving crankbaits. The smallmouth are feeding as shallow as 1″ so make sure you cast right up to open-water structure and close to shorlines.
