Posted on July 27th, 2022

The French River, ON is one of the most scenic rivers that connect Lake Nipissing to Lake Huron. The terrain there is steep dropping rocks and lots of structure below the surface.

Our friend Gabor Horvat had a chance to enjoy some cottage life with his family and friends. They picked blueberries and enjoyed fishing. On this trip they focused on fishing Smallmouth Bass using spinnerbaits and crankbaits casting to rocky structure and also to any weeds they could find.

One to three pound Smallmouth Bass are commonly caught in the French River, ON.

Smallmouth Bass love to feed around rocks especially if they are peppered with weeds. There they look for baitfish and crayfish to feed on.

If you find weeds in-between the rock structure you will probably hook Largemouth Bass on the French River, ON.

They also caught Largemouth Bass casting to weeds in search of Pike.
