French River, ON fishing report.
Posted on July 19th, 2011[nggallery id=564]Gabor Horvat reports. We just got back from the French river, it was hot weather, calm water, and hot fishing! My friend Drago landed a very nice size Musky, about 55″ long, close to 40 pound. The fish was in shallow 2-3′ of water and hit a crank bait. Drago had it by the boat in 5 minutes. The net was way too small! It was a heavy fish and quite a chore to get him into the boat. After we took pictures it took about 5-10 minutes for him to be revived. When he was ready he gave us a nice splash as a “thank you”, and bolted away.
We were targeting fishing heavy weedbeds and weedlines using a variety of lures. We quickly figured out spinnerbaits, crank baits, soft plastics and wacky worms were the top producers in different colors and sizes.
