Florida Trophy Kingfish.
Posted on December 8th, 2017While many Great Lakes Canadian and US anglers are enjoying trophy fall walleye and steelhead & trout fishing, I’m in Florida shooting saltwater TV shows and enjoying catching some monster fish on relatively lightweight fishing outfits.
Nov. is one of the top months to intercept Kinfish (King Mackerel) that migrate along Florida’s Gulf Coast feeding aggressively.
We have been successfully limiting-out in a short a time as 3-hrs. drifting the open Gulf with freshly caught blue runner baitfish right on the surface. Kings “smash” a bait and make sizzling runs that can’t be stopped until they decide to turn and head the opposite way. Not only are they excellent, hard fighting fish, thy are amazing smoked & grilled!
