One of the styles of fishing I really enjoy whenever I’m in Florida requires high concentration, target casting and continuous readiness. I’m talking about fishing redfish on the flats that are cruising in and out of the mangroves and targeting them by casting 1/4 oz. jigs with plastic grubs. My favorite outfit to use is a Rapala Magnum Baja spinning rod matched with a Rapala Delta spinning reel and loaded with Sufix 832 braid.
Redfish can detect the slightest sounds and vibrations in the shallows and making the right presentation with the best soft-plastic grub is critical. I use both paddle-tail grubs and tubes to fool them.
The new Lunker City Squid Tube is not just effective for saltwater fish, but also for freshwater fishing for multi species.
It takes many casts and covering long distances of over-hanging mangroves, but when you hook one, it’s all worth it!
