Florida Snapper.

Posted on June 30th, 2013

[nggallery id=885]Yesterday was unusually windy in the morning.  Howard Katz and I fished tried trolling for bluefish and mackerel, but the waves made it difficult to properly troll, so we decided to fish live shrimp for snapper and jacks.  We fish the Gasparilla Pass and Lemon Bay and caugth both species drifting shrimp along the bottom as the tide was rising.  Most channels at bridges and passes are deeper than the surrounding waters and many fish use these areas when the tide is moving to feeed.

We used  Rapala Shift rods and theRapala  Magnum Baha saltwate rod matched with with the Rapala spinning reel and loaded with Sufix 10 lb., 832 braid & 20 lb. Sufix fluorocarbon leader. I used our  Minn Kota Riptide electric and Humminbird 800 series sonar to help us locate the exact area to fish.
