Two very popular snapper to catch when fishing Florida Gulf water is the very popular Yellowtail and the plentiful Lane Snapper.
Both of these can be caught fishing live or frozen bait along the bottom in 50-100’+ depths. The Yellowtail is a little trickier to catch since they are schooling and shy. We often use a chum bag to get the Yellowtails to swim up off the bottom in the water column and then fish lighter line/leaders with small jigs tipped with a piece of frozen shrimp that free-falls along with the chum. Sometimes you just have to get sneeze to catch fish!!
