I love to fish Florida Gulf waters and for a change of pace instead of targeting just one species, I’ll fish a reef where I know where there is a variety of species just to see how diverse they are.
A good example is this Florida Toadfish, looks cute, but watch out for those sharp spines!
Another is the many species of Grouper that you can catch in the same are using just a shrimp on a hook.
And then of course there are the many varieties of Grunts which includes this White Grunt that is excellent eating.
To catch any of these all you have to do is locate a rocky bottom, drop down a piece of live shrimp or frozen shrimp and like Forest Gump says, “It’s like opening up a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.”
