Fishing the flats, Gasparilla, Fl.
Posted on January 27th, 2013[nggallery id=826]My wife Barbara, our puppy Mulligan and I decided to spend a few hours fishing the shallows in Gasparilla, Fl for a variety of shallow-water feeding fish. We chose to fish the Rapala Shift & R-Type spinning outfits matched with Rapala medium-size spinning reels loaded with Sufix 832, 10 lb. test and casting 1/8 oz. jigheads with TriggerX 4″ Minnows.
The water was clear, the weather was hot and the fish were spooky. We saw a dozen or so redfish, but they were spooky. We lost quite a few of our TriggerX grubs to nuisance blowfish that tear them apart like phiranas! We did manage to catch and release some nice groupers from the shallows.
