Fishing the flats for spotted Trout, Fl.

Posted on December 30th, 2015

Barb & I have had the pleasure of having out daughter Amanda and her husband Dan enjoy some time with us in Floirda. We took advantage of calm conditions and headed out to one of my favorite spotted saltwater trout grass flats just as the tide was flooding.

Our daughter Amanda caught the largest trout of our outing casting & retrieving a 1/4 oz. jig & 3″ plastic minnow combination. The trout hit about 10′ from the boat and put up an excellent fight. These fish are constantly on the move and timing is everything. When the tide floods, they move as far over the shallow grass flats as they can searching for their favorite foot, shrimp and baitfish!
