Fishing report from the Saugeen River, Sydenham River and the Bighead River!

Posted on April 19th, 2011

Here is a quick report from the Saugeen, Sydenham (Owen Sound) and the Bighead.

This is a short report because the fishing time that we had was unfortunately limited as well. So, to make a long story short. The fishing, on Wednesday the 30th and Thursday the 31st, especially on the Saugeen was on fire. My good friend, Andrew McEvoy, and I, landed 5 gorgeous Steelhead in a very short period of time. The water was flowing hard with a perfect 1 to 1 and a half foot visibility with a beautiful spring green colour. The river was at this height and colour due to the recent snow melt in Bruce and Grey county’s.

However because of the snow melt and cold water conditions, we fished the slower sections of the river below Dennys Dam, bottom bouncing medium size, high vis. roe bags. (Pink and Chartreuse) And as you can see from the picture’s. It payed off !!! If you would like to book a guided trip don’t hesitate to shoot me an e-mail at troutski79@yahoo.ca Or come on up to Red Pine Wilderness Lodge this summer for some fantastic fishing, great food and service that is second to none ! Good luck to all during Trout opener and I hope to see you on the water soon !
