Great Lakes Smallmouth Bass anglers have been enjoying excellent fishing whenever they have been able to get out. Due to many storms and windy conditions low most weeks anglers have only been able to get out one or two days.
Our good friend James Packer had a chance to fish with Jeff Wood in between thunderstorms off Erie’s north-shore. They fished jigs/plastic grubs and especially tube jigs as well as twitch-baits. The found fish as shallow as 5’ of water and as deep as 20+’.
Most anglers target Erie Smallmouth Bass either by drifting live bait, dragging tube-jigs or trolling for them in water ranging form 10-30’ in depth. Best areas to locate feeding bass is around structure such as shoals & reefs.
