Elk Island Lodge, God’s Lake, Manitoba – Day 2
Weather conditions turned for the worst and we faced heavy fog this morning which was blown off the lake by strong winds which increased throughout the day. We headed to our first pike spot and started casting the TriggerX Stump Hopper swim-bait.
Barbara caught the day’s first pike and landed several nice-size fish. She mainly cast the Blue Fox Big Wake spoon.
I landed several nice pike on the TriggerX soft-plastic and this trophy pike on the Rapala Husky Jerk #14in the new “smelt” color.
To finish things off we took our Rapala trolling rods loaded with Rapala counter reel & 30 lb. Sufix 832 braid, and fished the Rapala Tail Dancer #11 and the Jointed X-Rap in 30-50’ of water for trophy lake trout.
Tomorrow is our last full day at the lodge and we are scheduled to do a fly-out to God’s River, about 25 miles up-stream from Hudson Bay to target 20”+ brook trout!
If you would like to enjoy some fantastic fishing for trophy walleye, pike, lake trout and brook trout in a wilderness setting with all the amenities of home, we would encourage you to contact http://www.elkislandlodge.com/ , & book a trip!
