Eagle Lake Island Lodge producing Trophy Musky.
Posted on September 20th, 2009Mark Randle reports. Walleye fishing has been excellent all season but usual spots that hold larger schools of bigger fish have not produced expected numbers of fish. The largest walleye to date is just over 31″. The lake continues to produce large numbers of shorelunch fish in the 15-18 inch range. My personal best, speed trolling is 25″ this year.
The Muskie fishing, with our above, yes, I said above, average temperatures for September has been the most consistent fishery lately. Many numbers of follows and raises with the largest, a 50″ fish landed just before labour day on top water. Haven’t seen a single fish caught trolling all summer. Top water has been very productive. Surface temp is close to the 70F again this week. Our warm weather since late August provides daily highs of 70-80F and evening lows of 50-60F. Haven’t needed to use our heaters yet this month. What a surprise.
