buckhorn_walleye_bassKawartha Lakes, ON anglers may want to take note of Paul Lord’s presentation in catching Upper Buckhorn Lake walleye and bass yesterday. Paul decided to fish an ultralight spinning outfit loaded with 4lb. monofilament and used a drop-shot rig fished on the bottom in the evening fishing the Narrows current with light prevailing winds.  His bait of choice was a live leech.

Drop Shot Rig - Kawartha WalleyeThat’s a nice catch considering he only fished a short time and used an ultralight!

For those of you wanting to fish a drop-shot rig this summer for walleye, Rapala offers excellent Walleye Team rods specifically for walleye live-bait fishng.  The Sufix Seige is one of the top monofilament “main-lines” you can use for ‘finesse-fishing” along with the Sufix Fluorocarbon leader material.  In many cases, using a light outfit, light line and finesse “bait’ presentation can produce excellent results!
