Douglas Channel, BC bounty!
Posted on June 24th, 2017While the salmon and steelhead are running up many of BC tributaries, saltwater anglers are also catching silver Kings and a variety of tasty bottom fish especially in Douglas Channel about 800 miles north of Vancouver, BC.
Tracey John Hittel of Kitimat Lodge has bee taking guests out and catching some beautiful Chinook salmon like the one above. Trolling flasher and cut-bait rigs is producing a lot of salmon.
When taking a break from the trolling, anglers can also bottom fish either with frozen herring or simply by vertical jigging a 4-6oz. jig near the bottom. Not only are the different species of Rock Cod beautiful, they are also a delicacy to eat. You can combine tributary fishing and saltwater all in one trip, just contact Tracey Hittel at, tjhittel@telus.net .
