The Walleye fishing continues to be excellent on the Detroit River, ON. Our good friend Pat Pagano was out with the Kubassek’s and landed several nice eating Walleye in just a few hrs.
They fished out of La Salle, ON and worked current/structure breaks in 18-25′ depths using soft-plastic minnows and 5/8 oz jigheads controlling the boat with their electric to ensure their lines were as vertical as possible and their jigs working the first 2′ from the bottom.
The larger female Walleye that moved into the river first have mostly spawned and returned to Lake Erie. A good mix of male Walleye are still in the river and some of them are over 4 lb. May should still be excellent but expect the bit to slowly change from vertical jigs to dragging worm-harnesses along the bottom.
