Detroit River, ON Walleye update.

Posted on May 3rd, 2022

Our friend Scott Clark just came back from Kayak and shore-fishing the Detroit River, ON for Walleye. He confirms the fishing has been good for eating-size Walleye.

Detroit River, ON Walleye.
5/8 oz jigs and 4″ plastic grubs are best jigged close to the bottom around current breaks in 28-30′ depths.

Scott fished 5/8 oz jigheads with 4″ plastic minnows along the bottom in 18-30′ depths. Key areas to look for these male Walleye that will slowly be dropping back to Lake Erie are current/structure breaks just off the shorelines. Keep your jig close to the bottom and just lift it up and down a bout a foot but make sure the jig touches the bottom every 5 sec. or so.
