Detroit River, ON Walleye update.
Posted on April 13th, 2022Avid Walleye anglers every year eagerly await the Lake Erie Walleye run up the Detroit River, ON. Fellow anglers, it has arrived. We are getting good reports that walleye ranging from 16″-26″ are being caught from shore and from boats.

Most anglers are jigging for them near the bottom using 5/8oz round jigheads with 4″ plastic minnows. This is a great time to fish Italo’s Minnow from Fishing Compete.

An electric motor is a must to control the boat in the current and help keep the line as vertical as possible enabling anglers to feel the bottom regularly on the down-stroke.
Good places to launch are right from the Windsor and La Salle boat launches. Just look for the pack of drifting boats or shore-anglers to locate the fish.
Make sure to check the fishing videos on our Italo Labignan YouTube channel and if you have any questions just email them to me at Ask Italo throughout our www.canadian-sportfishing.com website.
