Detroit River, ON Walleye Action.
Posted on May 9th, 2020We have been seeing excellent Walleye catches reported from anglers fishing in southwestern Ontario, especially from the Detroit River. Up to 2- weeks ago many of the walleye were larger females and it looks like most of those have finished spawning and have returned to either Lake Erie, Lake St. Clair or Lake Huron.
Scott Clark has been fishing from shore and working 5/8 oz. jigheads with a 4″ swimbait along the bottom and has been more than limiting out on every outing. The Walleye being caught now are mostly males which are ideal eating size. You know the fishing is excellent when you can catch such high numbers of walleye fishing form shore. The walleye fishery will continue to be excellent in the main Detroit River right through until the beginning of June when the White Bass should move in by the millions. Then, harnesses worked along the bottom will work best!
