Detroit River, Michigan, USA walleye fishing update.

Posted on May 6th, 2013

My My Barbara, our pup Mulligan and I are scheduled to be shooting TV shows at the end of the month down on the Detroit River, both in Michigan, USA and Ontario, Canada waters.  At the same time we will be also covering the ICHA Handicapable Fishing Derby.  I have been anxiously awaiting an update on the walleye fishing in the river and up until yesterday, the water conditions have been poor; turbid water from strong winds on Lake St. Clair and Lake Huron, rainy weather, and so on.  Well this am I fianlly heard from our good friend Pat Pagano that the walleye fishing is finally on!!  It appears to be about 2-weeks behind which is OK since we won’t be down there for another 3-weeks.

Pat was joined on the water by his food friend Nino and Americo.  Between the three of them they kept 12-nice eating size walleye. All of their fish were caught jigging right along the bottom out from Amherstberg, ON  in water ranging from 15-25′ in depth.  With this consistent weather, the walleye fishing should be heating up fast!!
