Detroit River, Michigan, USA TV prefish.

Posted on May 31st, 2013

[nggallery id=872]My wife Barbara, our pup Mulligan and our good friend Pat Pagano had a chance to prefish Lake St. Clair this morning prior to shooting TV shows fishing for walleye, bass and panfish.  Our highlight will be attending and covering the ICHA Handicapable Fishing Derby that will be held at Windsors, ON waterfront on Sunday.

Today we faces strong winds and thunder storms, but we still were able to catch a variety of fish including, trophy smallmouth bass, white bass, white perch, and walleye.  We caugth our fish using jigs up to 5/8 oz. in weight rigged with TriggerX worms and Minnows in water as deep as 30′ in the main section of the Detroit River.  We also cast Rapala crankbaits on large flats in the open water on Lake St. Clair to catch big smallmouth bass and big panfish.

We all used Rapala Shift and Walleye Series Rods matched with Rapala reels and Sufix 832, 10 lb. test braid.

They are calling for 80% chance of rain tomorrow and strong winds so we will be putting the bimini-top on the River Hawk and most likely will only film in the Detroit River (both US & Canadian waters).  I have a feeling that Lake St. Clair will be to rought to fish!
