When most anglers think of the Detroit River, ON they probably think of fishing for spring/summer walleye or smallmouth bass. Well, the Detroit River also has a healthy largemouth bass population.
Roman Chorneyko shows off a trophy largemouth that hit a jig rigged with a Lunker Ctiy Shaker grub fished just off slack-water and weeds.
While Detroit River smallies are scattered feeding all over the faster-water shorelines, the best place to locate largemouth bass there are the many back-bays and canals where there is little water flow. Because of the hard bottom and water clarity jigs/plastic grubs work well all summer long.
