Dec. Steelhead action.

Posted on December 15th, 2022

Our good friend Joe Kubassek and his son Micha had a chance to fish for steelhead in a couple of the eastern Lake Ontario recently after some late fall rains.

Conditions after the rain produced stained water and the Kubassek’s decided to fish upper stretches of the tributaries where fish would be more concentrated in narrower runs.

They fished fresh-tied salmon and trout egg spawn-sacks under a float and fished the faster water runs about 1km up from Lake Ontario. Float rods and reels along with light monofilament lines & fluorocarbon leaders produced their fish.

Dec. is an excellent time to target fresh-run late fall steelhead in most of the Lake Ontario tributaries.
