Curious Florida flats fish.

Posted on December 7th, 2014

Besides catching Spanish Mackerel, bluefish, snapper, barracuda, and many more species, my wife Barbara shows-off two interesting fish we caught while casting spoons over grass flats.

barb_lizar_fishThe fish above is called a Lizard fish and if you look closely at it’s head, it looks like a lizard. The rest of it’s body has markings that look more like a snake than a fish. Lizard fish are very aggressive and will chase and strike a wobbling spoon travelling more than 5 mph!

barb_fishBlack Sea Bass are normally caught off-shore, but this one nailed Barb’s spoon in about 1 1/2″ of water!
