I love to catch walleye trolling, jigging, through the ice but my favorite is casting crankbaits. I find that when a walleye hits a crankbait he “slams-it” which makes for very exciting hook-ups.
I do a lot of cranking in the Bay of Quinte using my favorite Rapala Tail Dancer #9 in the “hot-chub” or “perch” color.
Our good friend Gabor Horvat also loves to crank for summer-time Walleye and reports that the fishing has been good, but only for the first few hrs. in the morning.
Hi has been cranking medium diving lures in the 7-12′ diving range off shorelines and out from weedbeds. Looks like the Walleye are feeding heavily at night, early and late in the day but taking time off to digest inbetween!
