Posted on September 26th, 2014 Today the distribution of the Gar species is limited primarily to North Amreica. The only exception is the rare Cuban Gar and the Tropical Gar. The Rio Frio on the Pacific Coast in Costa Rica offers the best opportunities to catch a large specimen outside of North Amreica. On 23 February a new best mark was set at 14,76 kg (32 lb 9 oz). As far as records go no larger catch has been documented. .
