Cold-weather, hot Lower Niagara River, ON trout action!
Posted on December 12th, 2013
Aldo Nava who operates www.niagarafishingadventures. com , has been braving cold air temperatures and catching lot’s of nice trout fishing the Lower Niagara River. How good is the fishing? Aldo has been averaging up to 20-trout a person, that’s right, a person in just a 6 hr period!! It’s a mix of steelhead and brown trout.
Aldo has been using the Rapala line of rods & reels & Sufix main line with Sufix fluorocarbon leaders. All of the fish have been caught either on salmon & trout egg-sacks and the TriggerX single salmon eggs. The most productive technique has been control-drifting using a MinnKota AP Terrova trolling motor and bouncing a 3-way rig with about a 30 inch leader, with a small #8-10 Gamakatsu hook along the bottom.
Water conditions have been good and if you don’t mid “fresh” weather, you should book a trip with Aldo. You can contact him at, www.niagarafishingadventures.com .
