Rob Campbell, President of Gibbs Acquisition Co: his company is seeking to expand its footprint in North America. One of Canada’s largest fishing tackle suppliers – and owner of six brands – has moved into the Great Lakes region with a major acquisition. Gibbs Acquisition Co – also known as Gibbs Delta – has purchased Advanced Tackle, the Great Lakes-based owner of Michigan Stinger, a supplier of trolling spoons across the US.
“Through this acquisition, 112-year-old Gibbs Delta is obtaining a customer-centric company that has a rich history of personal service, high trust and proven tackle,” said Rob Campbell, President of Gibbs. “With the added horsepower of Gibbs’s time-tested innovation, sales and marketing and logistics expertise, we look forward to continuing to grow our collective customer base and relentlessly focusing on fishing lifestyle.”
Campbell added that Gibbs is seeking to expand its footprint in freshwater-based fishing products, specifically in North America, through both strategic acquisition of established brands and organic growth. Rob Alcock, COO of Gibbs, added: “The ability for all customers to buy fresh and saltwater tackle across multiple applications and species within one purchase order is a key focus for us. The addition of Stinger products and its Great Lakes customer base is truly exciting.”
Stinger will continue to trade from Michigan and Rob Bellmore will continue to lead the day-to-day operations as General Manager. He said: “I am extremely excited by this new partnership. After a couple of years of extremely good seasons, we wanted to see just how much larger Michigan Stinger can get and we are confident that we will collectively bring it to a new level of product availability and development.” Based in Delta, British Columbia, Gibbs Delta offers over 5,000 SKUs of fishing tackle across six wholly owned brands – Gibbs, Delta, O’Ki, Rhys Davis, Zak and Stinger – and is the Canadian distributor for Silver Horde and Yamashita.
