Canadian Angler catches Triploid Carp Flyfishing Florida Lakes.
Posted on November 1st, 2009George Hatcher, from Newfoundland, Canada sent us a couple of pictures of the 12 -15 lb Triploid carp he caught in Naples, Florida this Spring. These carp are stocked by the state of Florida to control weed-growth in the freshwater canals and ponds. George used a 9 wt 9.5’ foot fly rod, 8lb test leader and a dry fly. These heavy fish fight hard making short runs and they didn’t like crossing the shallow water line. Each fight lasted about 10 – 15 min.
