Burbot on quick-strike rigs.

Posted on February 22nd, 2018

I have seen more Burbot ice-catches this year reported from Ontario and the Prairies than in the past few year. Either anglers are starting to pay more attention and targeting this excellent eating fish, or their population is up.

Scot Wallace of Outlook, Saskatchewan used Brian Button’s quick-strike rigs (@larysluckyleaders , on Facebook), to catch his fish. Ling are mostly a “nocturnal” predator, but they can also be caught any time during the day. Best to fish for them on the bottom with cut-bait.
