A bonus of my doing seminars at the sports shows and signing autographed posters is to share fishing tips with many anglers.

Believe it or not, this is what gives me the most satisfaction, when I chat with a person about fishing, share some tips and they take it in consideration and catch really nice fish.  That is my story from meeting Brian & Natalile Sokolich at the Toronto Sportsmen Show.

Canadians vacationing in the warmer south, whether the southern US, or Mexico can enjoy good shore-fishing if they take the right gear and lures.

I had met Brian & Natalie Sokolich at Toronto Sportsmen Show and he told me about a trip he was going on to Mexico. We talked about tackle, fishing outfits and from his report, they had a wonderful trip. In his own words, “Hi Italo, back from Mexico and fishing from shore with a 4-piece Rapala Baja travel rod did its job.  It was about a 10-mi fight that drew quite a crowd of onlookers.  Yes, the coral can be difficult to manage, however water shoes are a must.  They were commenting that I better not lose this fish as they were standing there for a while which made me chuckle.  I saw a bunch of baitfish jump all at the same time in the water and 2nd cast into it, BANG!  A flashy, blue-chrome Heddon saltwater Spook did the trick.  I reeled it in so it retrieved a few inches under water.  Shiny was the key.  My videographer in purple did a fine job as well.  I will have a video soon.”

Brian was being a little modest.  He caught quite a few more fish from shore that he showed my through Facebook and they also caught fish on a 4-hr charter, so the trip was a big success!

Good job Brian (and your videographer-Natalie!), now back to reality and temperatures -0C!
