Our good friend Brett Berft has kept us informed of how his fishing has been around the Winnipeg, Manitoba area for many years. Brett loves to fish with his Dad and is a “multi-species” anglers.
He recently told us that the water temperatures were about 60-65F and the Black Crappie and Walleye were caught in 4-6′ depths in and around weedbeds. His technique was to slowly troll at .2 mph using his electric motor and fishing a 1/4 oz jig/plastic grub and leech right on the bottom trying to keep his line as vertical as possible. That’s a great way to sneek up fish in shallow water especially when they are scattered around early season weed growth!
