Our good friend Fred Durr from Southwest Florida sent us these images of a recent Black Drum he caught while fishing for Redfish along the mangroves.
Does this saltwater fish look like our freshwater drum (Sheepshead)? Sure does to me, but they are definitely different species even though they are both “drums”. Saltwater anglers have always knows that Black Drum, especially when they are smaller (they can reach weights of over 70 lb.), are excellent eating. Most freshwater anglers tough don’t realize freshwater drum are also excellent eating.
