Big Channel Catfish in Lake Erie, ON Tributaries.

Posted on May 25th, 2009

tyler_jason_howick_graphic1Tyler and Jason Howick report:  The channel cat fishing in Lake Erie tributaries has been slow the last couple of weeks due to cooler day and night temperatures and lack of significant rainfall, which has kept many fish staging off of river mouths.  We have had some luck fishing lower river sections using slip-floats baited with pieces of cut-bait.  The fish that we have caught were concentrated in a few select spots often closer to shorelines in shallower, warmer water.  Hopefully the warmer temperatures and some much needed precipitation will kick start the channel catfish run in the coming weeks.
