BC tributary winter Steelhead.

Posted on February 14th, 2018

This week’s feature image features Mandi Buck about to release a beautiful “winter” Steelhead (Keep-em Wet). Noel Gyger’s thoughts, many times go back to legend Bob Hooton (Smithers BC Fish and Wildlife biologist) who first suggested, “ALL wild Skeena River Steelhead should be released…or we are going to lose them!” Thanks to Bob runs have been steadily increasing and anglers are thrilled.

Noel Gyger reports. Mixed precipitation with highs to -3 degrees Celsius. Skeena River is fishing fair for Steelhead   Kalum River is fishing well for Steelhead. Kitimat River is fishing well for local Trout and Dolly Varden Char. Zymoetz (Copper) River is fishing fair for Steelhead. Ocean fishing for Salmon, Halibut, Prawn and Crab good out of the ports of Kitimat and Prince Rupert.
