Posted on August 10th, 2017

This week’s feature image shows a happy angler with a trophy fly-caughtSteelhead.

Noel Gyger reports. Sunny with highs to +31 degrees Celsius (WOW that’s hot!) ALL the rivers are in good shape. Most of all the snow melt is down from the mountains. This means rivers should stay in shape unless we get a lot of rain.   Kalum River “spawning” and “kelting (spawned out) Steelhead are in the river now. If you accidently land one please release as soon as possible. Thanks! You can target Chinook on the lower end, below first canyon, until August 6th. Fishing for Chinook in the whole river including Skeena section near Terrace BC closes. Guiding started April 1 and ends October 31. Note: Kalum has 4 runs of Steelhead, fall, winter, spring and summer. Skeena River is in good shape. As of July 15 you can fish for Chinook, Coho and Pinks but closed to Sockeye and Chum…and yes Steelhead are in the river now. Zymoetz (Copper) River a few summer-run Steelhed are coming in now; water in good shape. Kitimat River Water in good shape. Fishing well for Chum, Pinks and local Trout. Ocean fishing for Salmon, Halibut, Prawn and Crab good out of the ports of Kitimat and Prince Rupert.
