BC Tributary Chinooks.

Posted on August 3rd, 2017

This week’s feature image shows happy young guest of Tracey John Hittel with Kitimat Lodge. Bright fresh Chinook (King) Salmon.

Noel Gyger reports. Cloudy with showers and highs to +18 degrees Celsius. ALL the rivers are in good shape. Most of all the snow melt is down from the mountains. This means rivers should stay in shape unless we get a lot of rain.   Kalum River “spawning” and “kelting (spawned out) Steelhead are in the river now. If you accidently land one please release as soon as possible. Thanks! Guiding started April 1st. Note: Kalum has 4 runs of Steelhead, fall, winter, spring and summer. Skeena River is in good shape. As of July 15 you can fish for Chinook and Coho but closed to Sockeye and Chum…and yes Steelhead are in the river now. Zymoetz (Copper) River a few summer-run Steelhead are coming in now; water in good shape. Kitimat River Water in good shape. Steelhead fishing is mostly over and now the fresh Chinook have started to come in; lots of Trout fishing available also. Ocean fishing for Salmon, Halibut, Prawn and Crab good out of the ports of Kitimat and Prince Rupert. If you would like to book a river fishing guide or ocean charter for 2016-17, you can contact Noel at, www.noelgyger.ca .
