BC River Chinook Salmon.

We had an amazing group trip with the Ber Float Reels Owners Club at Kitimat Lodge, BC this fall. On the 4-days of fishing we had the choice of targeting saltwater bottom fish/salmon, river Pink & Coho Salmon and river Chinook Salmon.

Michael Kumar, Benjamin Reubeni and myself took one day to chase Chinooks with a Jet Boat and Tracy Hittel co-owner/operator/guide at Kitimat Lodge took us right to the fish.

Chinook Salmon
Fall Chinook river salmon in the Kitimat, BC region average 18-25 lb.

We cast Vibrax #4 spinner and hooked up Chinooks averaging 20-25lb.

We also drifted 1/2 oz pink and purple jigs under floats and I ended up landing my personal-best Chinook of the trip. I don’t know how big it was but I guessed at its head weighing about 20 lb.!

All three of us enjoyed fighting, landing and releasing these amazing fish. The Chinooks were not silver, but they struck artificial lures well and fought hard.
