BC Fall River Coho Salmon.

Posted on October 19th, 2021

We had an amazing trip to Kitimat Lodge, BC and enjoyed some of the best river Coho Salmon fishing on Canada’s west coast.

Male BC river Coho Salmon develop “kypes” and “hooked” lower jaws as they prepare to spawn.

Silver, fresh-run BC Coho Salmon enter many of the northern BC rivers starting in Aug. and extending right up to the end of Sept.

BC river Coho will strike a multi-colored spoons, spinner, plugs and flies. Amongst these heavier jigs in yellow, purple and pink marabou and rabbit strips work extremely well fished swimming in the water column.

Size #4 spinners and 1/4 and 3/8 oz casting spoons also work well retrieved through slower “holding” pools and also drifted and gently jigged though deeper faster-water runs.
