Barbara Labignan land a beautiful Atlantic Salmon while Fly Fishing an Upper NY tributary.
Posted on November 28th, 2009Barbara Labignan landed this beautiful Atlantic Salmon while fly fishing the Oak Orchard, NY tributary that flows into Lake Ontario. Barb caugth her fish on Thurs., night while fishing a brown and rainbow trout run about 1 mile up from Lake Ontario. The Atlantic hit a purple Clouser Minnow fly tied on a #8 hook. Barb was fishing a Cortland rod/reel outfit and #8WFF fly line with a strike indicator in about 4-5′ of water. The fish fought hard and was released after the photo was taken. Hopefully the stocking program that is being initiated in Ontario will produce many trophy Atlantic Salmon for anglers to catch once they return as mature fish to our Lake Ontario tributary streams.
