Bad weather Largemouth Bass.
Posted on August 18th, 2014I had a chance to fish with James Beauprie and a friend on Sat. for largemouth bass. The weather was pretty bad with strong winds, cool temps, and rain. This was my opportunity to “pre-fish” a potential TV shooting locations to do a show fishing trophy largemouth bass using a variety of TriggerX soft-plastics and artificial frogs.
Unfortunately the weather was worst than forecasted and we had a very difficult time with boat control, presentation, and seeing potential sub-surface weedbeds that hold the larger bass. I fished the Rapala Shift baitcasting outfits loaded with Sufix 832 braid and TriggerX 4 1/2″ Slop Hoppers, the Padddle Tail Minnow, and the Drop Dead Minnow. We all landed a few smaller bass and some big perch, but only produced one trophy largemouth. I hope to get back out now that the weather has stabalized.
