Awesome Walleye Shoot at Red Pine Wilderness Lodge, ON.

Posted on August 17th, 2009

Can you believe it, I’m answering Ask Italo questions and making Blog entries while I sit on the patio at Red Pine Wilderness Lodge, ON, overlooking beautiful Lady Evelyn Lake.  This was our first trip to this lake and it was fantastic.  We shot a dynamic TV show fishing deep-water reefs for trophy walleye and now we are relaxing and ready to head back home early tomorrow morning.  For those of you that may not know, Lady Evelyn Lake is about an 8 hr. drive from Toronto (about 100 miles north of North Bay, ON), so we easily packed our camera and fishing gear and trailered our G3 up.  I had heard from emailing Ryan our guide that the fishing was excellent, but I did not expect it to be super!!  We arrived on Sat., afternoon, un-packed, had a great dinner and thought we would head-out to “test” the fishing.  Our camera man stayed back to shoot the lodge and facilities and our audio-guy joined us on the water.  Well, if we don’t start hooking walleye in the 22′ range, right up to 30″ range.  Joe Shugan our audio-guy caught his two biggest walleye of his life (a 26 & 30″ walleye).  My wife Barbara landed a 27″ walleye and I landed several walleye up to 22″.  All that happened in about 1 1/2 hrs.  Wait until you see the show, it’s full of excellent tips on using ultralight gear, 1/8 oz. jigheads/1/2 worm, and small worm harnesses to locate and catch walleye in a crystal clear lake, in the middle of the day, in 20-40′ of water.  If you are looking for an excellent drive-to wilderness fishing adventure, you should definitely check-out www.redpinelodge.com .
