Ask Italo: Best place/time to catch L. Ontario Chinook and Coho?
Posted on May 11th, 2017Ask Italo Question: Hi Italo How will the high water in Lake Ontario change the fishing conditions? Where would be the best place, at this time, to hook-up with Chinook and Coho in Lake Ontario? I appreciate your reply. May HE smile on you.
Italo’s Answer: Hi Norman, thank you for your kind words. High water conditions has been consistently producing excellent salmon & trout fishing in Lake Ontario, especially at the western end out of St. Catharine’s, ON. Our friend Aldo Nava who operates www.niagarafishingadventures.com , and fishes out of Port Dalhousie, ON has been doing very well on Chinook & trout (not so much on Coho). He is catching his fish running downriggers and Dipsey Divers in 50-80′ water and using spoons, cut-bait and flasher/fly combinations….God bless you and your family also.
