ASA answers ICAST visitors’ questions and reiterates the show goes on.

Posted on April 16th, 2020

The organiser of ICAST has said that it will be business as usual in July and invited visitors to register for the show.

The organiser of the world’s largest fishing trade show has reiterated that the event will go ahead as planned.

The American Sportfishing Association (ASA) says that ICAST will be open for business at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida, from July 14th to 17th and has moved to quell any fears that exhibitors and visitors may have by answering the most frequently asked questions it has received.

Here is the Q&A it released last week.

Will there be a trade show in July?

As of today, we are still planning on hosting ICAST from July 14-17, in Orlando, Fla.

We understand that everyone is struggling to balance the health of their employees and families with the demands of running a business during a pandemic that is devasting our  economy.

As conditions evolve, we are monitoring the situation every day and working closely with the Orange County Convention Center, Freeman and all our show vendors.

Decisions made the beginning of April may not be the same decisions that would be made in early May. We ask for your patience as we strive to make the best business decisions we can on behalf of our exhibitors, members, staff and all our show attendees.

When – or if – the situation changes, we will let everyone know immediately.

We want to be clear – your health and safety and those of everyone in our recreational fishing family are first and foremost in our decision-making process.

Is show registration open to attendees and exhibitors?

Yes! Registration is open to all attendees and exhibitors. Please register now for ICAST.

What’s the best way to book my hotel reservations?

You can register for ICAST and book your hotel room at the same time. It’s easy and there are a number of official ICAST hotels from which to choose.

What if I need to cancel my hotel reservations?

The official ICAST hotels will accept cancellations and provide refunds (up to a certain date) where applicable. Please contact your specific hotel for their cancellation policy. It’s to your advantage to book your room through Experient, our registration and housing partner.

If I cancel my attendance at the show, will my registration fee be refunded?

In the event that ICAST is officially cancelled, all attendees’ registration fees will be refunded. Otherwise, our policy states that if you cancel your registration, your fees are not refundable.

What is the policy regarding cancelling my exhibit space?

Please refer to your exhibitor contract for details and email us at ICAST@asafishing.org

When restrictions are lifted, what will ASA and the ICAST team do to keep people safe?

First and foremost, our concern is for the health and wellbeing of you, our members and your families, as well as our staff and their families.

The Orange County Convention Center has numerous health and safety precautions in place that are continually updated based on mandates from the state of Florida.

We will continue to follow the CDC’s guidelines as well as the mandates set by Florida and Orange County.

Will ASA be restricting international attendees?

There are no current registration restrictions on members of the sportfishing trade who want to attend the show. Each attendee is responsible for adhering to their country’s travel restrictions, if any.

How is ASA going to ensure that retailers and media will attend?

We will continue to market to our nation’s retailers and media through our multiple communications channels, highlighting the show’s many features to entice their attendance.

In addition, one of ICAST’s most valuable attributes is that Orlando is less than a six-hour drive for more than 500 retailers.
