Pure Fishing replaces CEO.

Posted on April 20th, 2023

Harlan Kent has stepped down from his role as CEO of the world’s largest fishing tackle manufacturer, Pure Fishing.

Kent (main image) has been replaced by Dave Allen, previously President of IGLOO, Vista Outdoor and Coleman. Kent, who led Pure Fishing for four transformative years, will move into a new position as a board director and advisor on special projects.

He helped establish the global business after it was bought by private equity group Sycamore Partners from Newell Brands, making a number of strategic acquisitions that included PLANO/Frabill, Fin-Nor, Van Staal and, more recently, Svendsen Sport.

“I am proud of the work we have done to establish this company as an industry leader over the last few years,” said Kent. “The future continues to be very bright for Pure Fishing and our brands.”

Allen (pictured), who spent the first 17 years of his career with Unilever, has more than 30 years’ experience in leadership positions, including over a decade in outdoor recreation. At IGLOO, he led the reinvention of the brand. “Pure Fishing has some of the most iconic brands in the space and a talented team comprising some of the industry’s brightest experts and innovators,” he said. “There is so much opportunity ahead for the company and our people.”
