My wife Barbara & I had the pleasure of taking Angela Lee fishing for the first time today on the Gulf of Mexico, FL. Angela is the owner/operator of Peter’s Bait & Tackle in St. Catharines and is spending a few days exploring the great fishing south-west Florida has to offer.
Winds were blowing at about 14 mph, but we still managed to venture out 15-20 miles in to the Gulf in search of her first trophy red snapper. Within 2-hrs, she did it! This trophy fish put up an excellent fight on light gear. We were all using Rapala freshwater spinning outfits loaded with Sufix 832 braid and using a 2-3 oz. egg sinker with chunks of squid and baitfish near the bottom. Tomorrow we are going to change it up and try for some Spotted Sea Trout and Redfish.
