I love to fish largemouth bass in open water using crankbaits or in shallow bays filled with lily pads, slop and think weeds. Most anglers think of southern Ontario as largemouth hot spots but our good friend Peter Yeung discovered that you can find trophy largemouth bass in northern Ontario too!
On a recent trip he fished with guide Adam Vallee who operates Angling Algoma. Adam took Peter kayaking with his Pelican Catch110 Hydryve into a wilderness lake where they caught one largemouth after another using plastic surface frogs, flippin’ jigs and Texas-rigged plastic worms.
They caught their fish casting to weed edges just off the shorelines and especially around lily pad beds. If you love to bass fish you should contact Adam and experience how awesome the largemouth bass fishing can be in northern Ontario.
