Category: walleye weather

hi Italo I was wondering what would be the best way to fish for walleye with an east wind.

Hi Don…East wind means changing conditions and most often movement of a “cold-front”. This can make fish, including walleye inactive. Best techniques to use are slow presentation line jigs/bait, jigs/plastic grubs and slow-trolling spinners/worm and worm-harnesses close to the bottom….God bless you, Italo

Hi Italo, what is the best weather condition and time and season to fish walleye in dunnville and caledonia?

Hi Phat…Walleye can be caught there throughout the year, virtually in any weather conditions from hot weather to cold, ice-fishing conditions. The key is that the weather stays consistent for at least 3-days before you head out, and that the river conditions are normal (not high & turbid from heavy rainfalll). Low presssure (mild/overcast/rain), is better than high pressure (cool/clear skies). Consistent weather. I would suggest you use these pointers no matter what time of the year you are planning on heading out there…God bless you, Italo
