With the recent rains we have had all Lake Ontario tributaries should have more salmon, steelhead and brown trout running up them. Lake Simcoe has limited shore fishing access where you can have a good chance of catching fish. My suggestion wold be for you to fish either Bronte Creek and the Credit River, or to fish some of the eastern tributaries like Duffin’s Creek, Oshawa Creek and going further east. You can also fish the Niagara Whirlpool. It has a mix of salmon, trout and bass.

Hi italo, my friend and i were planning on putting a canoe into the welland river and try fishing for whatever will be biting. I watched your kayak fishing video which is what mainly inspired us to do so. Ive fished the river before but never in a canoe, i was wondering where good places to put the canoe in would be (preferably easy access) that would offer some good fishing. Thanks in advance!

Good access right in Welland, ON off the River Road boat launch, just north of Bruce St. That stretch is especially good for pike and smallmouth. Good smallmouth bass fishing near the outflow of the Pump Building just north of the Aquaduct (good to fish with live bait near bottom), or troll/cast Vibrax #4 spinners along the weedlines and around the weeds for pike.
